Description
Burnside Second Model Percussion Saddle Ring Carbine.Serial no. 550 [receiver and breechblock], .54 caliber, 21-inch barrel with fixed front sight and folding rear sight. Top of receiver marked: BURNSIDE PATENT / MARCH 25TH, 1856. Blued and case-hardened finish. BRISTOL FIREARM CO. stamped on lock. Saddle ring. Smooth walnut straight stock with sling swivel and metal buttplate.
Condition: Good. Finish primarily a mottled grey patina with noticeable areas of age, handling wear and patches of pitting. Dings and scuffs present to wood. Action good. Moderately pitted bore.
