Description
Signed European Cup Hilt Rapier.41-inches overall with a 34 1/2-inch double edge blade with a single narrow fuller 6 3/4-inches from the hilt on each side. One side reads IVAN BEVGEL ME SINAL / ES EL HARITO DE S IAGO obverse. Wrought iron cup with simple raised border design to edge. Wire wrapped grip with simple pommel cap. Straight quillons with staged twist pattern. Intricate sunburst design adorns the inside of the cup hilt. Condition: Very good. Showing age wear and a smooth patina overall. Surface spots, pitting present. Period repair to cup hilt. Wire possibly replaced.
