Description

Victorian Era Copy of a 16th Century Italian Style Breastplate.
Measuring approximately 21-inches high and 16-inches at the widest point and constructed of a single plate. The front is ornately acid-etched with intricate raised foliate scroll against a black background; rope borders and decorative round-head rivets bordering the neck and arms. The front has a pronounced ridge projecting to a point near the lower edge of the skirt. All black leather straps and buckles are present for mounting the breastplate to the rear armor. The inner portion of the breastplate is blackened and features a rough cloth lining. No visible maker's marks.

Condition: Excellent. The breastplate is well constructed and has no dents or is not misshapen. The front displays some scattered light surface rust. A fantastic display piece.
