Description

Tribute to Yuri Gagarin

Reproduction of NASA Plaque in Memory of Yuri Gagarin, Signed by Glenn, McDivitt, and Armstrong. A 3.5" square card with a printed reproduction of the Gagarin plaque with an explanatory paragraph beneath: "Mr. George Low, Acting Administrator of NASA, presented to the USSR on January 21, 1971, a plaque in memory of Soviet Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, who made the first successful flight into space April 12, 1961. Gagarin, who made history with his one hour and 48 minute flight, lost his life in a training accident on March 28, 1968." The original plaque had one signature from each of the American manned space programs- Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo. The same three astronauts have signed this card, all in different blue inks: "John Glenn", "James A. McDivitt", and "Neil Armstrong". Unique. Excellent.
