Description

1860 Model Colt Revolver with Original Western-Style Inlay on the Grip. This is a .44 caliber colt army percussion revolver, serial number 51336. All numbers are matching, except that the cylinder is unmarked. The patina is so consistent between the cylinder and the rest of the gun that it seems highly likely that, if the cylinder was replaced, it was done early on, and that the gun was used in this form for most of its life. The wood grips clearly appear to retain their original varnish. Inset into one grip are a silver five-pointed star and an 1860-dated United States dime. Another star was originally present, but has fallen out over the years. The wear pattern on the dime is consistent with what one would expect from contact with the user's hand over time. A most interesting western gun, accompanied by its original leather flap holster. Very good overall condition and in good working order.
