Description

George Washington: Beautiful Centennial Ribbon. At 6" x 11", this is the largest woven silk ribbon (a.k.a., Stevensgraph) that we have seen. It was issued as a souvenir of the Philadelphia International Exhibition of 1876, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Besides George Washington, it shows the Main Exhibit Hall at the Fairgrounds, a steamship, locomotive, a steam rotary printing press, and agricultural products. Listed in "Threads of History" as #408, it is in very fine condition.
