Description

Abraham Lincoln: 1860 Illinois Presidential Election Poll Book. 8 1/2" x 14" ledger-style booklet, comprising a "Poll Book of an Election" held in Litchfield, Montgomery County, Illinois on November 6, 1860. This was the election that resulted in Lincoln becoming President which, in turn, precipitated the Civil War. This is apparently a list of eligible voters, totaling 635 in number. Another book was used to record their votes in the contest. Eight pages with covers, docketed "Litchfield Poll Book". Minor separation at folds, generally very clean. An interesting relic of the most important election in American history.
