Description

Al Smith: 1924 Coattail Button with John W. Davis. In 1924, Al Smith was running for a third term as governor of New York. He had lost his bid for the presidential nomination at the Democratic National Convention held in New York City. The deadlocked convention turned instead to a compromise candidate, John W. Davis of West Virginia. This 2 1/4" button supports Davis for President and Smith for Governor. It has a Bainbridge of Syracuse back paper. There are some very faint moisture marks here and there, around the perimeter, mentioned for accuracy only. Overall, it is a very clean example of a very scarce button.
