John F. Kennedy: White House Oval Office Paperweight, Sterling Silver. Personally owned by the president and engraved with the presidential seal, 3.25" x 2". President John F. Kennedy used this sterling silver paperweight in the Oval Office at the White House. He gave similar paperweights to friends as special gifts during his presidency. Marked "LEONORE DOSKOW HANDMADE STERLING FILLED." Accompanying the lot is the original grey felt pouch from Galt & Bro, a Washington, D.C., jeweler established in 1802 and located near the White House. Besides President Kennedy, one of its most illustrious customers was President Abraham Lincoln. This lot includes a letter of authenticity from Martin Underwood, Special Assistant to the President, including the story of the removal of the paperweight from the Oval Office in November 1963.
