Description
John C. Frémont: Highly Elusive Campaign Flag. 14 1/2" x 12" glazed or polished cotton flag inscribed "Fremont and Dayton" at a diagonal across the stripes. The canton contains 31 stars in a "great star" pattern. There are some faint stains, noticeably in the lower right corner and some folds in the fabric along the extreme right, but the overall condition is excellent with vibrant colors. Flags from the election of 1856 are extremely rare and seldom appear in the market. This is the plate example from Threads of History #259.Auction Info
