Description
Zachary Taylor: French-Made Portrait Under Glass. 2" x 2 3/4" hand-colored portrait of Zachary Taylor under glass, set within an oval brass frame and placed in a modern frame measuring 4 3/4" x 5 1/2". These were very popular around the time of Taylor's election and inauguration and are seen in a variety of formats. We don't know the exact process used to make these, but assume a lithograph was printed on some plastic-like material, hand-painted and then affixed to the underside of a glass plate. They are quite handsome and colorful. This one is in excellent condition.Auction Info
