Description

[Philip Jose Farmer]. Kilgore Trout. Venus on the Half-Shell. [New York]: Dell, 1975. First edition. Wonderfully inscribed.

More Information:

[Philip Jose Farmer]. Kilgore Trout. Venus on the Half-Shell. [New York]: Dell, 1975. First edition, first printing. Wonderfully inscribed by Farmer as Trout to his close friend Robert Traurig.

Inscribed on the title-page in blue ink: "To Herr Robert Traurig &/that weekend in the Peoria//county jail/from/Kilgore Trout/How were we to know that rolling/drunks was illegal? The/cops were doing it." Pocket paperback in the original illustrated wrappers. Twelvemo. 204, [4, publisher's ads] pages. Some creasing to covers at joints, minor soiling and light wear to rear cover. Light toning around the edges of the text. Still, a near fine copy of a fragile item, with a unique inscription from the great author to his close friend. There is a chapter about Farmer's friendship with Traurig (written by Farmer himself) in the upcoming Meteor House book, The Worlds of Philip Jose Farmer Portrait of a Trickster (expected publication to be in August 2012, as of this writing).
