One of Twenty Presentation Sets of the Atlantic Edition of the Works of H. G. Wells, Inscribed by Wells to His Brother

H. G. Wells. The Works of H. G. Wells. London: T. Fisher Unwin, Ltd., 1924-1927. Atlantic Edition. One of twenty presentation copies out of a total issue of 620 sets for Great Britain, each signed by Wells. This copy (unnumbered), is inscribed by Wells to his brother at the top of the signed limitation page: "F. J. Wells his Set / The Fezzer / from the Busswacker". Complete in twenty-eight octavo volumes (only five shown in the photo). Frontispieces inserted in each volume. Publisher's full red buckram over beveled boards, front cover with Wells' initials stamped in gilt in the center, spines double-ruled and lettered in gilt. Spines a bit dull, some rubbing and soiling to bindings, a few volumes with cloth slightly puckered, a few hinges starting. Still, a good set with an incredible association. Hammond G. From the John McLaughlin/Book Sail Collection.
