Edgar Rice Burroughs. The War Chief. Chicago: A. C. McClurg and Co., 1927. First edition. With a full-page inscription from ERB to his brother, in the year of publication, reading: "Dear Coleman - / If real estate is / moving as slowly / along the North Shore / as it is in Tarzana / you will have plenty / of time to read this / latest from the / Underwood of your / affectionate brother / Ed / To F Coleman Burroughs / 10/4 - 27" on the front free endpaper. Twelvemo. 383 pages. Glossary. Publisher's orange cloth with dark brown lettering and illustrations on the spine and front cover. Facsimile dust jacket. Noticeable staining to the front cover. Significant staining to the spine and rear cover. Top corner of half-title page partially chipped away. Light spotting to first few leaves. Paper abrasions and toning to the rear endpapers. Overall, a good copy with a fantastic association. F. Coleman Burroughs was, as the inscription suggests, a real estate agent in North Shore, California.
