John Augustine Washington's Copy of Two Rare Revolutionary Texts Bound in One, with His Ownership Signature on the Title Page and Front Endpaper

Williamsburg: Alexander Purdie, [1776].Two quarto volumes bound in one. 185, 44 pages.
Contemporary three-quarter calf. Front cover lacking. Spine tail chipped. Some wear and rubbing to the remaining board and spine. Bottom third of the front endpaper and bottom third of first title page torn away; the second title perfect. Light staining to first title page. Three short instances of tape residue to front endpaper; paper fill to gutter of same. Tiny portion of the verso of the title page repaired at the top of the gutter. Minor abrading to G2, with a tiny hole, affecting one word on each side of the page. Minor occasional foxing and pencil marks. "Charles Wash." penciled to the top of page 173. Small hole to Oo2, affecting a few words of text. A good copy.
John Augustine Washington's copy, with his signature on the title page and front endpaper. John was George Washington's brother, a member of the fifth Virginia Convention and a founding member of the Mississippi Land Company. During the Revolutionary War, John Augustine Washington served on the County Committee of Safety and as the Chairman of the County Committee for the Relief of Boston. He was also the father of Supreme Court Justice Bushrod Washington, to whom George Washington bequeathed Mount Vernon.
Both titles here are exceedingly rare, with no recent auction records for either title. Consigned by the heirs of George Washington, John Augustine Washington, and Bushrod Washington.
