Description
Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor, Document Signed, "Ferdinand." One page front and verso, 8.75" x 12", Wien, August 26, 1549, in German (not translated). Countersigned by various court officials. Ferdinand succeeded his brother Charles V as Holy Roman Emperor in 1531 and reigned until his death in 1564. He and his wife, Anna of Bohemia and Hungary, had fifteen children, all but two whom reached adulthood. The document has folds, soiling, and a stamp from a previous collection. The bottom has been trimmed. The document retains the large paper and wax embossed seal bearing Ferdinand's arms as King of the Romans.Auction Info
