Description

Henry III of France Letter Signed. "Henry." One page, front and verso, 9" x 14.75", Paris, January 31, 1587, in French (not translated). The document, addressed to Marquis de Pisani, Jean de Vionne the French ambassador to Rome, recommends Louis de Richebourg of the Diocese of Troyes to be abbot of d'Eslan, Order of the Citeaux in the Diocese of Reims. Henry ruled France from 1574 until his death in 1589. He was the last French monarch of the Valois dynasty. The document has folds, light soiling, even toning and a stamp from a previous collection on the verso.
