Description

Peyton Randolph Document Signed "Peyton Randolph." One page, 6.5" x 4.75", partially printed and completed in manuscript, March 4, 1773. Randolph signs a Two Pound note, "Current Money of Virginia". The note is also signed by John Blair, and endorsed on the verso by Robert Carter Nicholas as Treasurer of Virginia.

Peyton Randolph was the first President of the Continental Congress and as such his signature is one of the scarcest of the Presidents of the Congress. John Blair, likewise is an important early American statesman, picked by George Washington to serve as an associate justice of the first Supreme Court. Uniformly toned, with occasional foxing, Randolph's signature modestly affected by a smudge, else very good condition.
