Abraham Lincoln Naval Appointment Signed as president. One partially printed page,13.5" x 17" (sight), Washington, April 1, 1862, appointing "William J. Plant...Assistant Surgeon in the Navy...in the service of the United States." Countersigned by Secretary of the Navy Gideon Welles. Embellished with maritime engraving with blind embossed seal of the Department of the Navy at lower center. Uneven toning throughout. Lincoln's surname is faded ever so slightly, but is still wholly legible. Beautifully matted and framed to an overall size of 24.5" x 21.25".Auction Info
