WWI Era Foul Weather Flying Equipment. Comprising: 1) U.S. Type A-5 chamois lined leather face mask. Complete with all mounting straps. Excellent. 2) American Red Cross produced olive wool knit balaclava. Standard pattern balaclava but with longer aprons in the front and back. With tag marked "Compliments American Red Cross". Also includes a contemporary picture of a soldier wearing a similar balaclava. Excellent condition. 3) Oilcloth helmet with cotton lining. Similar in style to leather flying helmets of the period, this example has a small bill and long flap to cover the ears and neck. Female portion of neck flap snap is missing, otherwise in worn but very good condition. 4) Brown wool cowl. Quilted cotton crown lining. Holes for the eyes and mouth. No maker's marks. Very good.
