Large Antique Clip-Point Bowie Knife Marked: W. Greaves & Sons, Sheaf Works, Sheffield. Having a large, 9 ¾-inch clip-point blade with a 7-inch back edge, the remainder with scalloped pattern notchwork. Ricasso marked in a rectangle: W. GREAVES & SONS/SHEAF WORKS/SHEFFIELD. Scrolling floral pattern silver one-piece crossguard with rampant lion and JN touchmarks [John Novill, 1827-1874 of Scotland St., Sheffield, England]. One-piece, curved stag antler grip with vacant rectangular escutcheon and silver horsehead pommel with rampant lion, t & crown and JN touchmarks. Contained in associated period maroon pasteboard scabbard with gilt central pattern floral dingbat and scalloped German silver mounts. Belt stud. Condition: Fine.. Blade retaining much of its original polish but left side showing areas of fine spotting and pitting. Hilt excellent with light wear and patina as configured. Scabbard showing light wear and patina. Minor dents present on throat. Belt stud bent.
