Description

Fine Carved Burl Wood Pipe ID' D To The 2nd New York State Vols. Measuring approx 4" long by 1 5/8" thick and 2 1/2" high. Each side with carved raised scrollwork surrounded by raised battle honors. Carved on one side Malvern Hill, Bristow Station, Bull Run and Friedricksburg 1863, the opposite with Big Bethel, Hampton Roads, 7 Days Before Richmond. The bottom of the pipe with carved shield and scroll design and the top to the rear of the bowl two diamonds a star and heart. Set into the front of the bowl is a carved bone shield deeply engraved "2 Reg NYSV". In excellent condition with a few minor edge chips, perfect lettering and carving.
