Description

James P. Boyd: A Rare Copy in the Original Wrappers of Recent Indian Wars, under the Lead of Sitting Bull, and other Chiefs; with a full account of The Messiah Craze, and Ghost Dances. By James P. Boyd. ([No place]: Publisher's Union, 1891). First edition. Octavo (7.5" x 5"). Illustrated with photographic portraits of Indian Chiefs, soldiers, camps, etc. In the publisher's rare original printed wrappers, decorated and lettered in black on the front cover and spine. Wrappers a bit tired around the edges with some chipping and tears, and a small loss to two corners on the front cover. Previous owner's ink signature on front. Some edge chipping to a few sheets and plates, but the text block is very sound. Altogether, a very good, attractive copy now housed in a custom black cloth clamshell case with a black morocco lettering label on the spine tooled in gilt.
