Description

Cased W. & C. Scott & Son Double Barrel Sidelock Shotgun. Serial No. 70732, 12 gauge, 30-inch barrels with matted concave rib and two beads. Blued barrels with case-hardened sidelock action ornately engraved with foliate scroll and waterfowl scenes. Tang safety. Double triggers. Checkered walnut stock and fore-end. Blank silver escutcheon inlayed on underside of butt. 13½-inch length of pull. Approximate weight 7¾ pounds. Accompanied by a fitted leather case with brass corners containing an oil bottle, cleaning tools and screw driver. The inside lid of the case has a paper label with Ebrall Brothers distributor information. The top outside lid of the leather box is stenciled with a former owner' s initials "W.J.H.".
Condition: Very good. Finish a plum brown patina with scuffing and thinning on the sides of the barrel. Receiver lacking case-color but retaining a uniform silver appearance. Stock and fore-end with a few light scratches and modest wear. Mechanically sound and with a bright bore. The case has darkened and one closure strap is broken.
