Panel Addressed by George Washington with "Washington" Appearing Twice in His Hand George Washington has addressed a leaf (panel only) to " Mr. Thornton Washington" In the lower right hand corner he writes, "To the Care of Colo. Warn Washington", thus the name "Washington" appears twice.

Thornton Washington (1760-1787) was the son of Washington's brother Samuel, hence his nephew. He was quite close to him during the young man's brief life and advised him on land matters. On Samuel's death, Thornton inherited 350 acres on which he built a house called Berry Hill. Warner Washington was a first cousin.Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
