(London: Bradbury and Evans, 1853), first edition, bound from the original parts in two volumes with original advertisements bound in at the back of each volume, 624 pages collectively, illustrations by H. K. Browne, engraved frontis in volume one, full red morocco binding, six spine compartments between raised bands, gilt-tooled ornamentation in four compartments, gilt-ruled borders on both boards, gilt titles, top edge gilt, gilt dentelle, marbled endpapers, with small binder's stamp on verso of ffep reading: "C. J. Sawyer Ltd. 12 Grafton St. W.I.", 8vo (6" x 8.75"), negligible mark of front cover of volume one, else a superb copy in beautiful condition.
