Description
Project Mercury Astronauts Large Signed Color Photograph, 13.5" x 10.75", framed to 15" x 12". Signed "Alan Shepard" "Gus Grissom" "J.H. Glenn Jr.," "Gordon Cooper," "Scott Carpenter," "Wally Schirra," and "D.K. Slayton." The Alan Shepard signature is most likely secretarial. The photo has faded a bit. Rare, informal group shot of the seven original Mercury astronauts taken on October 21, 1963, at the Manned Spacecraft Center, Houston, Texas, during Look magazine's photo coverage for the Collier Trophy Award. This is the first fully signed informal photograph of the Project Mercury astronauts we've ever seen! From the collection of renowned former physical trainer of the astronauts Joe Garino. This lot is accompanied by a signed certificate of authentication from Garino verifying its provenance.Auction Info
