Description

Mamulique August 25, 1774 Power of Attorney given mutually by Maria Michaela de Andrade y Cavallero of Queretaro, and Raphael Velez del Camino, also of Queretaro. Maria Michaela de Andrade was Jose Fernandez de Jaurequi y Urrutias' widow- Jaurequi was governor of Nuevo Leon on 1732 and a dedicated Indian fighter. In 1738 he presented a plan for colonization of Nuevo Santander that would utilize citizens of Nuevo Leon and others. At the same time two others presented plans, but José de Escandón was chosen for the privilege. Jaurequi owned Mamulique Hacienda, which he left to his widow; it later was Mariano Arista's Hacienda (near Monterrey); Arista, who was in command during American occupation, at the time lived on Mamulique Hacienda.
