Description
Very Rare Mexican War Naval Veteran's Medal, ca 1840s. 5/8" x 2" pin back bar, red white and blue ribbon and 2ΒΌ" x 2 1/16" shield shaped medal with engraved inscription on the reverse, "Edward F. Beale/ Passed Midshipman/ U.S.N." The top bar of the medal includes "Patented March 7, 1876" and "National Association of Veterans". The lower portion of the medal exhibits elaborate detail including a wreath encircling "Mexico" and the date "1846". On the border of the medal are listed Mexican War battles. Although scarce in any form, naval examples of this medal are quite rare. The silk ribbon exhibits some wear, otherwise perfect untouched condition.Auction Info
