"D. B. Cooper" 1971 Ransom Money. Unknown Series $20 Federal Reserve Note. Certified and encapsulated by PCGS Currency with a custom insert picturing the 1971 artist's sketch of the sunglasses-wearing skyjacker. Found by eight-year-old Brian Ingram along the banks of the Columbia River in Washington on February 10, 1980, this is one of the only known group of currency notes that can be linked to the historic and infamous event.All the notes from this group were damaged by their exposure to the elements. This present example is approximately 1" x 0.6" with a portion of a Cleveland "D" Reserve Bank designation.
The D. B. Cooper Story (XIII): In November 2007, the FBI launched a publicity campaign, hoping to generate new tips to solve the 36-year-old mystery. The agency released detailed information regarding some of the evidence in their possession. For example: one of the reserve chutes given to Cooper in 1971 was a "dummy," an unusable item that was used for classroom demonstration. It was one of the two chutes taken by Cooper when he jumped. In late December 2007, they issued new photos and fact sheets online in hopes of triggering someone's memory that would lead to the identification or whereabouts of Cooper.
