Description
Skylab II (SL-3) Flown Robbins Silver Medallion, Serial Number 9F, from the collection of astronaut Jack Lousma. 35mm, with the mission dates engraved on the reverse, "7-28-73 / 9-25-73". This medallion was flown aboard Skylab II (SL-3) during July 28-September 25, 1973. The 59 days during which the crew of Alan Bean, Owen Garrett, and Jack Lousma studied the Sun, the Earth, and the physiological response to long duration was a space endurance record at the time. The crew actually requested an extension but were denied because their supplies had been depleted.The design features Leonardo da Vinci's famous "Vitruvian Man" hovering over the Earth and the surnames of the crew members. The reverse includes Skylab and the engraved dates.
This medallion comes complete with a handwritten Letter of Certification from Jack Lousma. From the personal collection of Jack Lousma.
