Description
Studded Civil War-period 3.30" Diameter Shell for Use in a 3.31" Rifled Gun. 6.5" high, nine pounds. There is no gun, Federal or Confederate, known to have been used during the war that could have fired this projectile. This projectile is often confused with the Armstrong pattern which utilizes two to three rows of copper studs, while this projectile uses two rows of six lead studs. Possibly of Spanish origin and a rare projectile. Fine condition.Auction Info
