Description
Group of Fourteen Post-Civil War U.S. Engineers Uniform Buttons from the Coat of Maj. Gen. Godfrey Weitzel. Consigned by his direct lineal descendants, all EG6. Five cuffs - Scovill Mf'g Co./ Waterbury, seven coats - Horstmann Bros & Co./ Phil., and two coats - Shannon, Miller & Crane/ N. Y. All perfect, retaining 99% of the original gilt. Weitzel mustered out of volunteer service in 1866 and returned to his engineering duties as a major in the regular army. He served until his death in 1884 as a lieutenant colonel.Auction Info
