Description
Sharps New Model 1863 Carbine Converted to Caliber .50-70 Centerfire, #62323. All metal smooth and gray with just some scattered very light pitting, minor. Mechanically tight and crisp, excellent three groove rifled bore. Complete and original in every respect. Wood very good with unit markings L/94/10 on the left side of the butt stock, most likely Company L of the 10th US Cavalry, the renowned "Buffalo Soldiers." Nice example of this U.S. martial carbine that saw heavy service on the American frontier between the end of the Civil War and the introduction of the M1873 .45-70.Auction Info
