Description

An exceptional specimen

Important Spiller & Burr .36 Caliber Percussion Revolver #76. Very early example of an Atlanta made gun, bearing both the CS on the right side of the frame, as well as the scarce Spiller & Burr mark on the top of the barrel. Serial number visible on inside surface of trigger guard, bottom of frame (visible when trigger guard is removed), inside surface of trigger guard, top flat of loading lever and cylinder. There is an upper case "M" visible on the left side of the grip frame when grips are removed. Mechanically perfect, very good bore. Metal generally smooth and dark gray with just some small scattered patches of salt and peppering and one tiny patch, on the left side of the barrel, with slightly heavier pitting, really very minor. Brass frame with nice mellow patina, just some scattered minor dents around the cylinder pin release. Grips show honest wear and use with some scattered dents and nice untouched patina. Only about a dozen of the Atlanta production Spillers are known to exist, with this well document specimen being among the earliest and finest known.
