Description

Gemini 12 Flown Heat Shield Plug and Embroidered Mission Insignia Patch in Capsule-Shaped Display, Originally Presented by James Lovell to His Aunt and Uncle. A segment of heat shield, approximately 0.75" square x 1.75" long and a 3" diameter mission patch all in acrylic and mounted to a 7.375" x 8.625" x 0.75" wooden base. On the acrylic is printed: "Heat Shield & Patch/ Flown on Gemini XXII/ James A. Lovell/ Edwin E. Aldrin/ Nov. 11 Thru 15/ 1966". This was the last of the Gemini flights with two very popular astronauts aboard. This is the first flown patch / heat shield combination display we have offered. It was presented by Lovell to his Aunt Jean [Lovell] and Uncle Leon Coleman soon after the mission. Felt on bottom as well as a wall hook offering two ways to display it. Very fine.
