Description
Bruce Shanks "'WE LIKE -' IKE" Drawing Signed "Bruce Shanks/ 11-7-56" and inscribed "To Madge Taggart" in the bottom right corner. Framed, 13" x 16". Bruce Shanks (1908-1980) was the editorial cartoonist for the Buffalo Evening News; he won the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning in 1958. Madge Taggart was a judge from Buffalo. The drawing depicts the Statue of Liberty's right hand holding the torch; the flames coming from the torch spell "Ike". Fine.Auction Info
