Description
Absolutely magnificent portrait of an actor portraying a king
Three Quarter Plate English Daguerreotype, Circa 1850. Brightly tinted, perfect untouched condition. This is the exact image used as the frontispiece of "The Daguerreian Annual 2007", the official "Yearbook" of The Daguerreian Society. Bright tinting, superbly executed. Doubtless a Shakespearean character, the subject wearing a coronet rather than a crown, implying one of the earlier Shakespearean kings such as Richard II, King John, or Macbeth. The actor is unidentified but worthy or diligent research. Housed in the original black pebbled leather case with double brass hinges and brass hook closure in perfect condition. A great daguerreotype, worthy of inclusion in even the most sophisticated collection.Auction Info
