More Information:

J. Y. Dashiell, who was appointed in 1861 Texas state adjutant and inspector general, signs this general order reading in part: "As the period has arrived for the transfer, to the Confederate Commander, of the State Troops recently called out by the Governor, no application for detail or exemption from that service will hereafter be acted on by this Department. From this date all applications for detail or exemption, by C. S. Officers or Agents, will be made to the Major General Commanding, through Maj. E. W. Cave, Vol. A. D. C., in charge of Bureau of State Troops, Head-Quarters, Houston." The document ends with printed, "By order of Governor F. R. Lubbock."
