Apollo 14 Flown Silver Robbins Medallion Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot Stuart Roosa, Serial Number 073. There were 303 of these 35mm x 30mm oval sterling silver medals struck for this January 31-February 9, 1971, flight and all were flown with crewmembers Shepard, Roosa, and Mitchell. The obverse bears the mission insignia picturing an Astronaut Pin (a gold pin that NASA gives to astronauts upon completion of their first flight) flying from the Earth to the moon. The reverse features the dates of the launch, moon landing, and return engraved with the crew's full names around the edge along with the sterling hallmark. The serial number is on the rim. Excellent condition.

Included with this lot is a typed Letter of Authenticity on NASA letterhead, dated November 19, 1971, signed "Stuart A. Roosa", gifting this medal to Physical Conditioning Supervisor Joe Garino. It reads: "Dear Joe, This Apollo 14 medallion, serial # 73, was flown to the moon on the Apollo 14 mission. The mission was launched February 9, 1971, having successfully completed a landing in the Fra Mauro region of the moon on February 5, 1971. This medallion traveled 1,151,086 miles during the 216 hours, 1 minute and 58.1 seconds of flight." Also included is a letter from Garino attesting to his ownership.
