Description
Space Shuttle Discovery (STS-29) Unflown Silver Robbins Medallion Directly from the Personal Collection of Astronaut Charlie Duke, Serial Number 130. This 35mm sterling silver medal is in its original issue plastic box. This medallion, though not flown, was one of only 154 minted to commemorate the March 13-18, 1989, flight of the Discovery, a mission to place a Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) into orbit. The obverse depicts a frontal view of the flying orbiter; the reverse includes the engraved mission dates. The surnames of crewmembers Michael L. Coats, John E. Blaha, James P. Bagian, Robert C. Springer, and James F. Buchli are featured on both sides. Excellent condition.Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Authenticity from Charles M. Duke, Jr. on his personal letterhead.
