Description
Apollo 7 Flown Flashlight Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander Wally Schirra, with Signed COA. A heavy, brass-milled two-cell flashlight, 5.125" in length and with a maximum diameter of 1". The filament in the bulb appears to be intact but was not tested; the original batteries have been removed. The part number, serial number, and date of manufacture are mostly all worn off of the barrel through use. Made by ACR Electronics for NASA. A piece of Velcro is attached at the top near the lens. Apollo astronauts were equipped with these small penlights for use throughout their mission. Not tested. Fine condition. From the Steven R. Belasco Collection of Space Memorabilia.Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Authenticity on his personal letterhead stating, in full: "This brass flashlight was carried on the flight of Apollo 7. It was a simple but very useful tool during our flight from October 11 to 22, 1968. Most of the part and serial numbers have worn away from flight use and after the many years of being in my collection."
