First edition, with "first printing" stated on copyright page. Inscribed by Dr. Seuss on verso of the half-title: "For Noel / Who can sue / but he damn well / can't collect -- / -- Dr. Seuss." Octavo. Unpaginated. Illustrations by the author.

Original salmon cloth boards, pictorial endpapers, and original dust jacket with price of $1.75 at top of front flap. Faint toning along edges of pages, a few corners with soft creases. Dust jacket has darkened slightly along spine and at folds; two-inch tear along the bottom of the front flap fold, minor rubbing, a couple worn spots and minor blemishes and a few small and faint water stains to the front panel. A bright clean copy in very good condition.
