Description

1923 WORLD SERIES PROGRAM - GAME 1.

We introduce this program by noting that it chronicled the first ever World Series game played in Yankee Stadium.  A 4-4 tie progressed into the top of the 9th inning, then 'Casey at the Bat' (Stengel, that is) slammed an inside-the-park-home run for the decisive blow in that Giant victory.  (Despite that the Yankees won the series, 4 games to 2, the Ol' Perfessor was none too modest in sharing this yarn with anybody polite enough to listen.)  The glorious feature of this program, however, is that this game was Yankee Stadium's maiden voyage in World Series competition.  Though its cover is lightly soiled and it has a few superficial creases, it is in abundantly acceptable VG/EX-EX condition.  The pages are solidly bound, and the tidy scoring follows the game to Casey's 9th inning entry "H" (as in "home run").
