Garth Williams. Illustration #17, Charlotte's Web.Garth Williams. Original preliminary drawing for illustration #17 (appearing on page 59) of Charlotte's Web, 1952: detail of Wilbur flying. Ink of paper. Approximately 8.375 x 12.875 inches. Signed in full by Williams at lower right. With Williams' notations: "'Charlotte's Web'/Study for Wilbur flying" in ink, and "Wilbur flying" in pencil. Drawing was at one time matted, resulting in light toning to image area; masking tape on reverse to top edge. Else fine. From the Estate of Garth Williams.
