The receipt is for "Sundrys from London", valued at "19.4", with "Wharfage" valued at ".4". Below the total, "19.8" is written, "Receiv'd the above for John Hancock Esq./ Wm. Palfrey." Palfrey, Hancock's chief clerk, later served as General Washington's aide-de-camp. Fine.
