Colima Figure of a Smiling Dog

Ça 200 BC-200 AD
Slipped and burnished ceramic

10¼" x 17¼"

This lively and quite large dog is modeled with a slightly turned head. He appears to be giving his owner his full attention. He is shown with a toothy smile. The spout of the vessel emerges from the top of his head. He is covered with a rich dark patina. Wonderful display presence.
