Gus Grissom's Gemini Door Plaque. The wooden plaque is 23" x 11". The three-dimensional Gemini capsule is approximately 11" x 6" x 2.75". In 1965, Grissom was the command pilot of Gemini 3, the first manned Gemini mission. Accompanied by a signed statement by Garino attesting to its authenticity: "The Gemini model woodblock hung on Gus Grissom's door in the astronauts office building four. I was asked by Gordon Cooper to remove Gus's artifacts from his office to hand over to Betty after Colonel Grissoms death in Apollo fire." With another signed statement by Garino saying that Cooper gave him this door plaque. From the collection of renowned former physical trainer of the astronauts Joe Garino. This lot is accompanied by a signed certificate of authentication from Garino verifying its provenance.
