Wyatt Earp: A Rare and Important 1870 Lamar, Missouri Signed Document with Four Lines in his Hand. The Earp family moved to Lamar in 1868 and promptly established themselves there. In July of 1870, Wyatt's father was serving as justice of the peace and Wyatt had succeeded his father as constable. This document is an order to appear to testify in a court case, signed by N. P. Earp. On verso Wyatt certifies that he has served the named parties orally on July 22, 1870 and signs, "W. S. Earp Constable." It is docketed to show that the senior Earp received a fee of 35 cents for issuing it, while the constable received $2.00 for delivering it.

Wyatt Earp's signature is quite rare in any form, and this is an especially nice example because of its early date and the present of four full lines of handwriting. 8.25" x 5", and in very good condition with typical light soiling and aging. It is accompanied by a signed letter of authentication by renowned autograph expert Charles Hamilton.
