One page, 8.5" x 11", on Pawnee Bill Oil and Refinery Company letterhead, Yale, Oklahoma, March 21, 1923 to "Mrs. Coulon". The letter reads in full: "My Dear Mrs. Coulon, If you have any difficulty in having the pasture fenced you may do so and mail bill to me and I will pay it. Enclosed is a name card you may please use it if you desire. Yours Most Truly, G. W. Lillie". The letter is toned along the edges, exhibits old smoothed fold creases, and has three filing holes along the right margin, otherwise it is bright, legible and in excellent condition.

    Ever the entrepreneur, Pawnee Bill [born Gordon William Lillie] never kept all his eggs in one basket. In addition to his stint as a wild west impresario, Lillie dabbled in real estate, banking, movie making and the oil business. In was in his capacity as President of the oil company that bore his name, that Bill writes, presumably to a neighboring land owner, to assure that he will pay for fencing pasture land.
